The girls from the bush……..

A play on words of the Lee Kernaghan’s quintessential Australian bush ballad, but be warned this post is very, very, very, politically incorrect.

These figures are from Brother Vinni’s “action” girls, “game” girls, and “Female Brigade” ranges. As the names suggest, if you are unaware of Brother Vinni‘s range, they are very “bohemian” to say the least!

These four figures are the start of a female jungle fighters team for F28 and Kill Team.

As the figures are quite detailed and I cannot be sure what age of people is viewing these posts I have censored all of the naughty “bits” so those over the age of sixty do not have heart attacks!

Army Medic

Missile “handler”

Don’t you like the way she handles her “missile”.

Flamer – could have been dangerous if she was dressed as the others!

Don’t ya just hate risk managers!

Missile “launcher”

I will post more of these when I have another four finished. It will take some time because, and I have to be careful how I say this, I can only fit one on the end of my painting stick at a time!

  1. Great work Dave, have seen Brother Vinnie’s models before so knew what to suspect, but was surprised by the fully clothed ones ! LOL

  2. Brother Vinni is an excellent sculptor and he can really capture the beauty of the female form. Sadly however I no longer support his work as I recently found out he is selling a model of what he calls a “Ukrainian slave girl” that shares a striking resemblance to a particular female pro-Eu/pro-NATO Ukrainian politician that was imprisoned by the former pro-Russian Ukrainian government. The facial expression on the figure does not convey a sense of consensual participation. It is a shame as I have supported his work previously and used to own a number of his clothed models.

  3. I was unaware of this controversy before your reply and would like to thank you for pointing this out.

I have already prepared a post for next week entitled “ A social experiment or does sex sell miniatures”, as I wanted to wait and see what my stats were on this post. I generally receive about 80% of traffic on a post within a week. The post was only yesterday so the sample is still far from complete. What does show up clearly is that my normal 2 likes for every comment and 2 views for every like is distorted. The views are four times the amount of comments and likes combined which shows that the post even without a suggestive heading has been looked at far more than normal.

The figure in question is titled “the walking slave” and it is not until you click on the alternative head that the “Ukrainian Slave girl” appears. http://www.brother-vinni.com/shop.htm#!/Slave-Girl-walking-28-mm-miniature-for-wargames-by-Brother-Vinni/p/25324812/category=5965007

With the advent in 3D printing we have an increasingly competitive miniature market requiring a point of difference and “Brother Vinni” certainly has this.

The Ukrainian title delineates the head as clearly designed to represent Yulia Tymoshenko the former politician and Prime Minister jailed in 2011 for trumped up charges and only released following the 2014 revolution. She ran a clear second to Valensky in the most recent election. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_cases_against_Yulia_Tymoshenko_since_2010

It is not surprising that you see politically incorrect miniatures under the heading of “Girl Victims” and you could argue that Yulia Tymoshenko was indeed the victim of a corrupt regime. The title itself is not PC and casts women in the role of victim.

I support your stance and am glad you have voiced it most eloquently. I will follow up with the stats in a post next week.

  4. Well they are well painted, I’m no prude and as I think most people are aware not against the female form in any way shape or form, but I don’t think I would ever use these figures in a game myself, though if you are OK with them I’m not here to judge the are just a bit of fun after all. The slave girls though I think are a step to far for me.

    Cheers Roger.

    • I am with you on both counts. I have enough of the clad girls to use in games and would certainly not touch the slave girls. I have some great modern captive models to use for objectives that don’t require nudity for them to look good. For me the issue is the same whether the model is based on a real life person or not. Many D&D figures suffer from the same accentuation of certain part of anatomy and don’t seem to raise an eyebrow. I have just finished watching the new “Black Panther” movie and despite it being a Disney production the tight fitting suits and low cut attire, even with Angela Bassett at 64, leave little for the inmagination!
