I guess this blog shows that I am a bit crazy, or at the very least slightly “eccentric”, but I prefer eclectic myself!
I guess that’s why they call me Guru. Nah that’s because I still have that “spaced out” 70’s look – and your right I cannot remember a thing about the them, although I am told by SWMBO that I loved the Sunbury Festival – go Aztecs (of the Billy Thorpe variety and not Mark Morin’s). For those readers unlucky enough to not live in Australia, the Sunbury Festival (1972) is our equivalent of Woodstock, and for many of us it was a rite of passage and a coming of age (nup wrong blog site to give details).
SIGH! NOT SURE HOW I BECAME SO SIDE TRACKED. AHHHH MEMORIES!
But I digress, back to the mega-fauna or other old codgers.

“One of the most distinctive megafauna mammals of prehistoric times, Glyptodon was essentially a dinosaur-sized armadillo, with a huge, round, armored carapace, stubby, turtle-like legs, and a blunt head on a short neck.”
Glyptodon became extinct by about 10,000 years ago. It is believed that humans hunted these animals and used their bony shells as shelters during inclement weather.
The plan is to include these in the our Denisovian/cavemen games even though this genus of mega-fauna has only been found in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay and not in Australia (not yet anyways) – see blog of a few days ago.
The models are a bit overscale with the fossil remains being about the size and weight of a Volkswagen “beetle” but still close enough to fit in with our 28mm figures. I have had the models for over 25 years and they were originally purchased from the Melbourne Museum shop (I just can’t remember the 70s that’s all!!).

And to finish on the same tone as I started. Listen here.
Very interesting and thanks for the shout out. I do not think you may have seem my post that actually has glyptodons in it! (I do more than Aztecs!) Anyways, here it is and for what it’s worth, the 70’s were a a ot of fun, less the gas lines and the Blizzard of ’78! https://markamorin.com/2018/07/24/power-armored-frinx-on-glyptodons-archive-2042-circa-1978-completed/
Great Glyptodon post. Loved the models, and yeah I know you do more than Aztecs……….. you do dastardly Spanish! Happy gaming.
