The Roman town theme is that of a small seaside trading town with a small wharf and port commercial area. Roadside shrines like this one were common place in the Roman Empire. In a seaside Roman township this one is likely to be dedicated to Posiedon or Neptune.

I was able to pick up this cheap 6″ statue of Poseidon from ebay that will go well with the shrine.

The other “building” you are likely to sea in a seaside trading town is a slave market.

I have used normal townsfolk for these pics, however I do have the Gangs of Rome slave mob to paint up for this.

I think I have two sets of these from Footsore miniatures.

Both of these items fit the theme of the town and will add some character to the games as well.
Great looking shrine, and slave pen and selling stand Dave. Have you seen the film Pompeii, as it depicts a seaside town very well for reference.
I have seen it a long time ago b ut will revisit. thanks for the reminder.
Some good stuff there Dave.
Thanks. Some quirky pieces.
Looks great- the slave pen looks a little grim mind….
Cheers,
Pete.
Yeah I thought about lightening it up with some graffiti quoting some of Martial’s epigrams but the bars were a little small.
All very nice, buildings and statue! 🙂
Thanks John.
