Not quite. When you have more than enough already on the painting table what do you do? Of course you add more don’t you!

Gurus says “We gurus are not wise…….. we only think we are! True wisdom come when you realise you know nothing, or that you already have enough to paint”.
Rather than diminishing the plastic horde I have just moved it from one place to another. I have, however, spent almost a week gluing the damn multi-part figures together, so at least there has been some real progression.

From this!

To this!
Instead of just piles of sprues I now have piles of toy soldiers. Yippee! Only two lots are recent acquisitions but more about them later on.
Warlord Games WW2 Fallschirmjaeger.

Platoon with three squads and some extras.

Command Squad

Squad 1 with 13 figures to allow for alternatives like the extra M42 in late squads and additional panzerfausts if required.

Squad 2 as above.

Squad 3 as above.

12 extras made up because they were there!

I also have some metal blisters. 2 Support packs with machine gun, forward observer , medic, commander, and 3″ mortar. A pack with panzerfaust and flame thrower, and a Panzerbusche 41 AT gun.
Partisans/VBCW

Forty more Partisans.

22 more VBCW 1st Bath Battalion Anglican League – The Bishop’s Guard.
British Commandos, the Unit for Dr Who, or Department X for 7TV games.

3 Platoons and a command squad. These have more support weapons than normal for Pulp games and so will be a few squads shorter for WW2 games.

Command squad with sniper, 2 light mortars, sergeant, commander and 2 with SMG.

Squad 1 with NCO, 2 Bren guns, PIAT, and 6 with assorted SMG’s.

Squad 2 as above.

Squad 3 as above.
All of the above I have had for some time and when I was putting together the Partisans I thought I would keep going and finish assembling the others. The next two groups are recent acquisitions.
Aliens for 5 Parsecs from Home

More Zombies
I felt almost a failed zombie miniature collector when I realized I didn’t have any of these!

What self respecting zombie hoarder (horde ah!) would be without German zombies. So here they are!

Phew just saved being kicked out of the club.

That is a total of 199 miniatures assembled this week! I have already commented on the difficulty of putting together the Partisans, and the Bolt Action Fallschirmjaeger and Commandos were not much better. The Stargrave aliens and the Studio Miniatures German Zombies were a dream to put together. Funny that: aliens and zombies being easier to get along with!
I will continue to paint the partisans and VBCW figures but the others are not scheduled until towards the end of the year. Then again who knows!
That is a lot of prep work Dave, on a wide subject matter as well
Thanks Dave. At least they are done and can join the painting queue.
That’s a lot of miniatures…
And an awful lot of plastic glue!
Always fun to see the forces assembled and together on the hobby table. Looks like lots of painting in your future!
There was a lot of painting in my future without these!
Crikey, Dave, you have been busy! 🙂 Quite a selection there! Nice to see some German paras with FG42s as well!
Thanks John. The problem is you feel little satisfaction for although you know after a lot of work they are now put together, they are in effect still at the same level as the metal figures waiting in the queue. I am not a favour of multi-piece plastics but they are cheap.
Holy Cow! That’s a ton of work for one week, I wonder how long it will take to paint up! And very jealous of the 5 Parsecs aliens! I need to get those rules back out some day.
I have both the earlier version and the second edition nice flash one. Not a lot of difference if you are happier with the first edition. Stargrave now have some interesting plastic sets out now that are equally good for 5 Parsecs.
If zombie heads don’t glue on straight, that’s fine! 🙂
Your output rate of figures is phenomenal btw!
Regards, Chris
Thanks Chris. The problem is when you confuse GI’s and zombies. Ummmm!
That’s one hell of a week of prep work! I know that pain all too well, but at least the payoff is some nice painting time. What I’d do for a nice stretch of uninterrupted paint time!
Thanks Az. Putting them together was an impetus to start painting them. I now have all of the VBCW and Commando plastics completed!
