The mythical monster resembling a large, hairy, apelike being supposed to inhabit the Himalayas at about the level of the snow line have been sighted, and though reports of actual sightings of such a creature are rare, certain mysterious markings in the snow have traditionally been attributed to it. The Abominable Snowman, Tibetan Yeti, Big foot, Sasquatch or whatever you want to call them are real…………………………

See! Irrefutable proof that they exist!

I was looking through the Fistful of Lead Tales of Horror (TOH) supplement from Wiley Games last night and in the “other Horrors” section came across “Hairy Folk of the Wilds: Bigfoot, Yeti and Wendigo”. I have had a number of the Reaper Bones Yeti figures including a Shaman, a Chieftain, 2 Shredders (mean dudes) and six Warriors (lesser mean dudes) for quite a while and decided to paint them as a change from scenery and more “normal” figures like zombies!

I thought that since there was a Werewolf group in the rules that rather than a “one off” Yeti why not a team of them.

I wanted a quick but effective way to paint the ten medium sized figures that I had. First I based them on 50mm round bases and then undercoated them with a cheap matt white undercoat.

I then washed them with seraphim Wash from GW although any medium brown will do.

This is just the shading in the creases and not the fur colour so it does not need to be too thick or too dark.

I then dry brushed them medium sea grey, lotherian light blue and corax white ready for their final blue wash and white dry brushing. They look a bit messy at the moment so why all the different dry brushing. If you have a look at long furred animals (persons?), there are different colours underneath even with a coat that looks all the same. The objective in the end is to have something that looks light blue but has various colours showing underneath.

Here one is with its blue wash. Although I am not totally happy with the result it should turn out OK when finished.
