Arachnophobia

Arachnophobia (n): “extreme or irrational fear of spiders”

I HATE SPIDERS!

Despite this I found the Jeff Daniels and John Goodman film Arachnophobia to be quite funny in a queer sort of way.

You may have noticed that my movie watching of late has taken a bit of a “creepy” and “crawly” bent of late. A pity these movies are at best B grade, but they have at least got me psyched up (out?) to get some more “little beasties” painted!

  1. It’s been many, many, many years since I watched this and even at that time, wasn’t crazy about it. I actually really like spiders, so it’s a little hard for me accept people getting so freaked out about them. I know, people have fears. On the plus side, the box art was cool and stood out in the video store! On a bigger plus side, it inspired you to paint up your own beasties! 😀 After I get to a point where I have enough character minis and D&D monsters, tackling some animals will be on my todo list as well. My players just aren’t ready for a horde of rabid ducks yet!

  2. They look great. Not bothered about spiders over here but I can understand you not being keen on them given the varieties you get over there are more serious….

    Cheers,

    Pete.

  3. I’m a spider lover myself and I even had a pet red-back in the warehouse until the bosses daughter who suffered from Acrophobia came across him?her and totally freaked out!!!! I had to take it home and let it fend for itself in my garden! Weird fact! Red backs are the favorite food of the white tail and the daddy long legs!

  4. Not much really creeps me out like spiders. And I do not really understand why. Especially as I think crabs are really cool. But then part of the definition of arachnophobia is the irrational aspect. Much as I fear/hate spiders, they make excellent villains. Wishing you good hunting!
