The other day the first wave of the Marvel Zombies game arrived.

Marvel Zombies is based on a five-issue limited series of comics published from December 2005 to April 2006 by Marvel Comics. The series was written by Robert Kirkman with art by Sean Phillips and was set in an alternate universe where the world’s superhero population has been infected with a virus which turned them into zombies.
The figures are pretty good (not fantastic but OK), but are nowhere near the size of the “Marvel Crisis Protocol” figures, which is disappointing but not unexpected. Here is my “Zombie Zulk” conversion and the one that comes with the box set.

The Hulk is about the same size of one of the standard Zombicide Abomination.
There is the usual game paraphernalia:

Plenty of tiles, cards, and the like.

Regular readers will know that the game is not what attracts me to Zombicide, but the figures. If you want a review on that you will need to wait for someone who is a regular player.

The marvel Zombies game has a different twist than other versions, with this time the players playing the zombified heroes that are trying to spread the infection to the rest of the heroes and Agents of Shield. The player characters consist of Captain America, Iron Man, Wasp, Hulk, Captain Marvel, and Deadpool.

You are fighting against 6 Super Heroes, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Ms Marvel, Thor, Scarlet Witch, and Eric will be pleased to hear Spider Man!

To aid the Super Heroes are 63 Agents of Shield and 12 bystanders. These figurers are all up to their usual standard. A Zombicide game with only 6 zombies in the box……….heresy I say……..HERESY!

Given this is just the first wave of this Kickstarter I am prepared to hold my final judgement but compared with their recent release “Undead or Alive”, at this stage I am a little underwhelmed”!
looks to be some nice sculpts in there Dave, but as you say need to see everything to make an informed opinion.
Nice! I just received my “Wanted: Undead or Alive” kickstarter box. I’m planning an “unboxing” review later this month – just getting home from two weeks on the road and heading out tomorrow for a little vacation in Las Vegas! (Don’t be jealous, this trip was planned before the NFL season started when my team was full of hype, now I’ll just be happy if they don’t lose to an even worse team this weekend!).
Not jealous at all! Couldn’t think of anything worse than a holiday where I lost all of my money, listened to Donny Osmond, and drunk myself silly, before being married by Elvis to some floozy I had just met!
Ahh, Guru has watched too many Vegas CSI television shows! The wife a I are here for an NFL Football game, and a Cirque de Soleil show, but if a floozy and Elvis are in the room, you just never know! LOL
Very cool (to me, anyway!) Is what you got just the basic retail box? If so, that would explain the lack of “stuff”.
I elected for single-wave shipping on my pledge, so I have to wait another six months or so, though we did pick up the cut-down retail version where a few heroes face zombies that are supplied by standees (which went in the box to be replaced by our actual zombicide models). If you decide not to sell the boxed game, just keep the minis and want to clear some space down the line, I *cough* know someone who’d be happy to take the other non-minis components off your hands so you don’t have so many storage issues… *cough*…
Just the basic set, but still not as good as the basic “Undead or Alive” one. Thanks for the offer to reduce storage issues but I think I will hang on to them!
Interesting stuff mate, I did start reading the Marvel Zombies comics by didn’t really like the concept myself though to be honest I’ve very much a golden and silver age man myself.
Cheers Roger.
Like you I was never a great reader of the Marvel series, but still have a large collection of the Phantom (surprise surprise!).
I liked the first series okay, but then it just seemed like they were trying to cash in on the idea.
Loved that comic run. Lots of zany fun. Thanks for the write-up of the kit.
Looks like a nice twist in the game.
Looks cool
Didn’t know they had based a game off of Marvel Zombies, but not too surprising. Will be interesting to see how they look painted up. 😃
Will be some time away I am afraid. At least until the rest of the KS arrives around April next year.
