This is the last of my Matilda tanks, and is another Murray flamethrower tank.

Down the track I hope to build a Matilda hedgehog but am currently awaiting the parts to complete a conversion.

This one is shown operating in Tarakan.

In the next few days I intend to finish my Australian “Sentinel” tank squadron which was one of the best armoured and armed tanks of the early war. Given the cheaper American Stuart tanks and the free “out of date” Matilda’s from the UK, only just under sixty tanks were produced, none of which saw action.

Squadron 1 with II CS, command tank, a Murray flamethrower, and a standard 2pdr.

Squadron 2 with II CS, a Murray flamethrower command tank, and a standard 2pdr.

Both squadrons move forward on Tarakan.
Another great looking tank Dave, and they all look great together in the group shot.
Thanks Dave I am pleased with how the double platoon has come out.
I like the group shot – I think that’s the most Matilda models I’ve ever seen ready for a game! 🙂
The Matilda is a great tank if played in period. The Germans in France and then with the Italians in north Africa had trouble with it. The Japanese had trouble with it as well. Most gamers ignore the early war hence they are hardly ever used.
Those squadron look impressive.
Cheers,
Pete.
Thanks Pete. Given that there are 3D printed and two kit manufactures there I am pleased that they fit together so well.
Great collection assembled, and that is a very stoic-looking tank commander.
The last thing I would have called an Australian is stoic. Probably he was just passing some infantry and someone called him a “smartarse bucket (tank) rider”. Either that or he has found out that the Yanks are supplier warm beer!
Wow that’s cool.
Thanks Mark.
