My favourite figures/models/projects completed in 2022

I just wanted to share with you what projects i really liked completing this year. Some because the models were cool, other because they were just a bit of fun to do or I really liked the result I achieved. I learned a lot of new painting techniques this year thanks to all of you who gave me the hints. I decided to provide a link to the actual post they were introduced so that I did not have to provide a lot of detail. Either look them up or not. Many equally good projects like the Seebattalion and lots of zombie projects have not been included.

In no particular order:

Elk Skeleton

This was my favourite for the year. I really liked how the weathered skeleton came out.

German U-Boat

An impressive model that was surprisingly easy to paint.

Obadiah Hogswill on pony

All of the Obadiah deserter army was just a bit of fun and there are some great models.

Alternate Armies Zombie Dogs

Just love these models and I think I will get some more later in the year.

Yeti Tribe

Reaper yeti models have really stood the test of time. These have been included as I had to learn how I wanted to paint the fur. After several tries I am really happy with the outcome.

Abominape from Zombicide

A monster of a figure that goes really well with the Yeti.

Australian WW2 Chaplain

This chaplain from Westwind evoked exactly what I was after.

Finnish Sturmgeschutz Ausf.G

I have included this one because I am pleased with how the weathering and snow worked out.

Tug and Jetty

I wanted the Ainsty Jetty and the Lead Boiler Suit Tug to look old a worn. The algae look on the jetty exceeded my expectations.

Russian Unit for Silver Bayonet

Nice models and are my first Silver Bayonet unit.

Vampire Coven

Reaper Ape X

A really classic model that looked awesome when completed.

Mother of Dragons

These were painted for SWMBO and a lot of time was put into them. Just love the way the golden dragon turned out.

Mysterious Monastery Monks

These monks are quirky and a bit cheeky. I just loved the models.

Mischievious Mariners for 7TV

A real bunch of rogues from Pulp Figures,

Phantom’s Jungle Patrol

Australian New Guinea sniper

I think these are wonderfully posed models that just ooze that Ozzie laconic attitude.

Jeep Tow

Pleased with how this jeep came out.

Mouse Village

I had lots of these plaster buildings and models and decided to put them together just for fun.

Pacific Village

Roman seaside village

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is resized-photos0020-5.jpg

Destroyed Monastery

Phantom’s Skull Cave interior

All of these village and terrain projects were finished because I just like really cool terrain to play on yet is practical in terms of moving figures. They have been cluttered to make the photos look more “realistic” but work equally well “dumbed down” for gaming.

Thanks for indulging me.

  1. Bloody awesome all collected together like that. Quite a productive 12 months and all the more so given all of the large pieces and terrain (and boards!)
    Kudos!

    • I used to sleep walk now I just “sleep paint”. Actually, just discipline – whip me whip me!
Religiously (hence the whip) doing two hours each morning before everyone else wakes up. I batch paint at least one colour on everything and by day five it is just a matter of doing the final touches on each unit. Works a treat.
