This is another offering from Phillip Bradley written in his normal easy to read style, yet with the scholarly discipline that I have come to expect with his works.

Unlike his other works that have concentrated on individual action of the fight for New Guinea this one covers the whole campaign and is a really good place to start. I wish I had read this one first as it would have put the other books I have reviewed into a broader context There is enough detail on each battle to obtain a reasonable grasp of each, as well as setting each within the political and military context playing out.

At over 500 pages it is far from an overview, and I found it very informative. The maps of each key battle are excellent for a wargamer and I can see a few scenarios springing from them.

Again, another well researched and written book. If you were going to buy one book on the New Guinea campaign I would recommend this one.
