Australian 2/7th Field Artillery Troop – Morris CS9 Self Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun

I posted on the first of these vehicles way back on 11 June 2023 when I assembled and painted one for the WW2 Australian Tank Attack Platoon (Anti-tank).

I will not repeat the history on the Bofors I presented in that post but rather refer you to the posts link.

Here is the second version for the Australian 2/7th Field Artillery Troop.

Again I used a washer and magnet to attach the gun to the truck.

After completing this model I came across the photo of the 2/7th in action at Tarakan.

You can see quite clearly the Bofors gun in the centre of the photo. You can also see that it is the towed version they are using and not the Morris mounted version. I is also being fired with the wheels still on. The crews uniform is sparse with most bare chested, and at least one just plain bare!

Doh! Another model to complete!

More of the Australian 2/7th Field Artillery Troop tomorrow.

  1. I have checked with the AWM Collection Number 10885 directly and the caption is as follows: “An Australian QF 3.7 inch gun (at centre) operating in the direct fire role during the Battle of Tarakan in 1945”.

I bow to your greater knowledge!
