“Cut off one head, two more shall take its place. Hail HYDRA!” (Red Skull)

With my son and two grandsons playing Crisis protocol I have been slow in deciding what faction I would choose. I definitely didn’t want one of the really good guy factions but I did like the Wakanda faction. Eventually I decided on building the Hydra Faction.

Why? HYDRA was an authoritarian-subversive paramilitary global terrorist organization. So what’s not to like!

It was founded in ancient times as a cult dedicated to the fanatical worship of Hive, a powerful Inhuman that was exiled to the planet Maveth by ancient In-humans. Ever since his banishment, the true believers were determined to bring him back to Earth.

Originally a Nazi organization led by the Red Skull during World War II, Hydra is taken over and turned into a neo-fascist international crime syndicate by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. Fits in nicely with my German Weird War Army!

I have collected the following Hydra members to give me variety in my gaming choices:

Baron Wolfgang von Strucker (Leader)

Arnim Zola

Baron Zemo

Bob, Agent of Hydra

Crossbones

Red Skull

Sin

Taskmaster

Viper

Hydra Troopers

Three of these, Red skull, Baron Zemo and Crossbones come with the original boxed set whereas the others I have begged, borrowed and purchased!

Tomorrow I should have my first one painted.

  1. Oh, that’s an awesome character selection! What teams are the grandkids taking? I imagine like most kids, they are both going to team up against the grownup!

  2. As a fan of Flash one rugrat was disappointed that this was a Marvel only game. Despite this I will convert something for him. In the mean time he has chosen Spiderman. I will paint up Dr Octopus ASAP to fight against him. The other rugrat likes Captain America and Hulk. I have a hulk for him and may need to pick up wolverine to fight him with.

At this stage we will fight one on one to give me a faint chance of winning!

  3. I miss playing MCP. I fear the game has moved past me. I’m at the point that if I pick up any boxes it will be to full flesh out a faction or just models I thin I would like to paint. Good luck in your journey! Hail Hydra!

      • I hear ya, it can get overly tactically quickly. When the wife and I played, we played rules light. Rarely using tactics cards and not really building a card deck to choose from, we would just selected a scenario to play and grab a handful of tactics (then forget to use them).
we also didn’t build a roster to select from, rather we picked a faction and pulled miniature we had to get up the points level, adding out of faction models to make up points needed.
I really like the system, but it feels like it’s getting overly complicated and watered down with characters.
Just have fun with the grandkids!

  4. A very thematic selection Dave, if they do a quicksilver model, that would be a good starting point for a flash conversion

  5. An excellent choice. Playing the baddies vs your grandkids’ goody teams will be much more narratively satisfying than having goodies vs goodies all the time.

Quicksilver is in the game and could perhaps work as Flash?
