Ultron was an artificial intelligence who was originally designed to be part of a peacekeeping program created by both Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, using the decrypted code derived from the Mind Stone encased within Loki’s Scepter.

However, when the Mind Stone activated him, Ultron’s original programming directive, which was to protect Earth from all domestic and extraterrestrial threats, had swiftly become corrupted by the stone.

Upon accessing the Internet and looking at the history of the human race, Ultron deemed humanity itself as the greatest threat to peace on Earth and attempted to commit extinction-level genocide against them, so that he and his Ultron Sentries would be the only being left active upon the Earth, also deeming the Avengers to be the greatest threat of all and making his mission to end them. Hopefully start on the Hydra figures tomorrow, but who knows as I have a few things on the go at the moment.
Nice work, GP. But man, they butchered that origin, wiping out decades of comics history in the process. 😞
I don’t think I know what his original comic origin story is either – the few comics I read with Ultron he was just there as a robot villain with no particular explanation needed or provided. Could you fill me in please?
He was originally built by Hank Pym (Ant-Man/Giant-Man/Yellow Jacket). Ultron has always had this weird Father figure relationship with Pym. Mostly being mad at him. Ultron pretty much wants to destroy all organic life, sometimes with the intention of replacing it with robots that he has constructed. So remaking the world in his own image. The other defining factor has been that each time the Avengers defeated him, he managed to return and usually even more powerful than before.
Thanks – though that origin story isn’t so different. In both versions Ultron is created by an arrogant super scientist and eventually rebels. As Pym is hardly involved in the films it makes it more personal for the creators to be central characters.
Certainly, but the comics are not the films. So why rewrite the comics to match the films? They could have just as easily said that some scientist named Pym created Ultron or “Pym Electronics”, and reveal it later. Film-wise it causes problems later on when they introduce Pym or if they wanted to use a character like Jocasta. Ultron captured the Wasp, and used her memories/personality to create ‘the Bride of Ultron’. It failed and Jocasta became part of the Avengers instead. So if they wanted to do that, they are going to have rewrite another part. Eventually they will have painted themselves in the corner.
Not to say I don’t like what they’ve done in the MCU, I really like some of the changes and the way they simplified things or made them more interesting. But keep the MCU and Comics history separate! 😉
Ahhhh….I think I see the misconception on my part… GP is taking his info from a MCU site. The title of the link was “Marvel Comic Fandom”, so I mistakenly thought it was a Marvel Comics site and Marvel had rewritten their Comics history. Not that they haven’t done that in past as well! 😉 But anyways, yea it makes more sense now that I know it’s MCU. It doesn’t seem like the game is actually set in the MCU, more the Marvel Comics, or maybe a bit of both?
Great work Dave, I like the red glow, over the blue, you sometimes see.
Very nice work. I always think this mini should have a cricket ball in it’s right hand.
