I had not played “Dux” in a long time and wanted to introduce it the Axes and Ales. Wayne was my guinea pig\ – far away from a Guru Pig!

My heroic Late Roams ready for battle.

The two lines of the dastardly “Land Raiders”

Yhe Roams with their command points allocated for the first turn.

Roman Auxularies.

The Roman cavalry with their leader advance with the Legions following.

The Land Raiders pivot to face the angled attack of the Roman cavalry.

Having played 28mm for so long 15mm figures appeared tiny!

Crunch time is about to arrive.

The Roman cavalry strike, but with only a small amount of damage to both sides.

The Generals bodyguard is now face with a long line of warriors.

General fighting general. With both “generals” allocating a lot of command points to this fight it was going to be protracted.

Oops I was wrong! Flanked and destroyed the Roman general is no more and the other fight has both sides teetering with only one point left.
Fortunately the Roman infantry destroyed the warrior line just before the Romans gave way themselves.
A good introductory battle with Wayne needing to get used some of the “ancient” games mechanics, especially about needing to behind the units front to charge a flank and the like.
