January was a very busy month with holidays family and a number of health issues that needed sorting out. At the start of the month I put out a project plan, which is more of a hobby wish list than a plan, that I would like to get finished this year. As normal I have been side-tracked but hey isn’t that what a hobby is all about – doing stuff you want to do?
Despite this I have ticked off a number of projects that were on the list including:
- Finish the about 200 Zombies remaining – these will be painted alongside other projects.
- Dead Man’s Hand civilians.
- Complete 2 Japanese 28mm Warlord plastic clans – 50% completed.
- The Batman Searchlight – completed
- Infinity Nomad faction
- Complete Japanese village – again this will be completed alongside other projects – 90% completed.
- About 80 more Test of Honour Japanese figures.
- Set of 54mm Roman Generals – 50% completed.
- Egyptian 28 mm skirmish figures.
- Eureka Miniatures 28mm Anubis and Bast figures.
- Eureka Miniatures 28mm cricket team.
- Various objective markers.
- 28mm Australian Light horse (12).
- Complete Gotham City railway yard, freeway, port and two ships – about 40% completed.
- Various small Gotham city terrain pieces (bill boards, containers, small buildings) – completed.
- Crooked dice post apocalyptic scatter terrain – 60% completed.
- Gangs of Rome figures and buildings (this is about half completed)
- Set of Army tents and camp fires.
- French figures for Sharpe Practice.
- British figures for Sharpe Practice.
- Finish Portuguese for Sharpe Practice – just needs basing.
- Complete Crooked Dice Shanty Town buildings.
- Paint assorted farm animals for use as scenery/objectives for several projects.
- Complete French Indian Wars trapper and Indian canoes and various cavalry.
- WW2 French Army for Bolt Action.
- 28mm Skirmish Plains Indians.
- 28mm US Cavalry.
- Modern armed civilians and rioters and 2 rock bands – 50% completed.
- Harry Potter Figures
- Finish Modern ISAF and insurgent figures and vehicles.
As per normal there were lots of things completed that were not on the list and there were also a large number of figures that were almost finished that I didn’t include. The fact that a large number of figures were being worked on together meant that they were all finished with a rush at the same time. I tend to paint/build/model a number of projects together as this saves time – a sort of bulk batch processing methodology. It can be frustrating as individual projects take a lot longer but over January you saw the fruits of the approach, with new figures being finished on a daily basis. Here is what was completed:
- 12 Dr Who Sontarans;
- Two teams of 12 English Cricketers;
- Cricket pavilion and accessories;
- 13 school girls;
- 7 Pilots;
- 10 assorted pulp figures;
- 16 Shipping Containers, Railway station and 2 platforms, and assorted crates;
- 2 Subway entrances;
- 2 Billboards;
- 7 assorted Pulp figures;
- 9 Dr Who Sea Devils;
- 9 Dr Who Vervoids;
- 10 Assorted Dr Who Figures;
- 9 Dr WhoTetrap Figures;
- 4 “The A-Team” figures;
- 12 Warrior women;
- 20 Askari women; and
- Re-based 7 Heroclics Superman figures;
In addition there have been twenty-six blogs posted (nearly one a day!), including 3 game reports, a book review, and one off-topic rant. This leaves me well on track to achieve the 100 posts for the year that I had planned.
Things will slow down as I am now going back into my batch processing again so wait for the next avalanche of completed projects!
