Today I have put together two of the Sarissa Precision Gangs of Rome Factories . The buildings are a simple build, but suffer from the use of grey card for roofing that is consistent with this range. At some time I will get around to replacing them with 2mm mdf, just not now!

Great work on the buildings Dave, shame about the roof material, have you considered using plasticard that’s got tiling modelled on it as a replacement ?
I have but I know the guys at Knights of Dice whose factory is only about 15 minutes drive and they said it will only take a few minutes to customize the roofs for me. And with mates rates………….!!!
Great buildings, pity about the naff roofing materials
Yep! It is a problem with most of the Sarissa Precision range. Unfortunately they are one of the very few that do Roman buildings.
Those look great- they must have been quite dark to work in given the limited amount of windows.
Cheers,
Pete.
Very similar in Vietnam today where they open up the “garage type doors for light and air.
The Romans, from early times, did in fact have Collegia or legal unions. These were a bit like a British form of trade guild. Their purpose was not to improve workers’ conditions but to foster goodwill and general friendliness among members, so it is not surprising of the lack of light in these buildings.
Care should be taken not to read too much into the design as these are a modern replication with very little evidence of what these wooden structures actually looked like.
They do look pretty great. Mice to see you’ve got an easy solution for the roofing as well!
Thanks Az. I am pleased with how the buildings are coming along.
