Pulp fiction comes in a variety of genres and just as the story lines are varied so are the heroes which populate them.

7TV Pulp has divided these genres into
- Amazing Tales – for skirmishes on fantastic alien worlds featuring space adventurers, weird science, deranged inventors and gadgeteers. All aboard that homemade rocketship for a trip to the stars!
- Crimebusters – for gritty stories of law and order agents, hardboiled detectives, down-at-heel gumshoes and masked vigilantes. Crush out that cigarette, down the last of the bourbon and venture out into those mean streets.
- Gangland Stories – for those with a criminal inclination, a genre that offers criminal empires, kingpins, violent mobsters and shady dealings in abandoned warehouses. Just fill ’em full of lead, ya goons!
- Mystery Theatre – for fiendish masterminds, crazed surgeons and totalitarian maniacs bent on world domination. Crush them! Crush them all!
- Thrilling Adventures – for far-flung expeditions to lost cities or forgotten catacombs in search of mysterious artefacts and fabulous treasures. Grab your hat, your whip and that unlikely service revolver!
- Weird Menace – for mad scientists and Unspeakable Things From Beyond. There’s more in that book bound in human skin, but it could drive you mad.
I am not going to go into a lot of depth on this as there is an excellent post from Crooked Dice and Edgehill University which discusses this.

They have also divided their heroic stars which populate them into:
- Crusading Crimefighter
- Cynical PI – later renamed Cynical Gumshoe (I prefer the PI title)
- Intrepid Adventurer
- Jungle Paragon
- Occult Investigator
- Space Ace

My Intrepid Adventurer Heroic Star “Ohio Smith”

A “Big Game Hunter” to use as the Heroic Co-star Quin Tanner.

What Pulp Movie would be without the “Comic Relief”. In this case Thaddeus Treadway the famous butterfly collector.

You always need some extra bulging muscle and Duke Hunter is one of my “Rugged Veterans”.

More bulging muscle in the form of “Avery Sharpe” (who is not always), another “Rugged Veteran”.

I am madly (situation normal) painting up Pulp figures at the moment to try some games.

Some more Pulp figures and some sample “Casts” or lists will be posted over the next few days.
All looking good, Dave! 🙂
Thanks John they are coming along nicely. Have my son’s rug rats so I think I am going to be playing dinosaurs and putting together some tanks with them instead of painting, but you never know I may get them to bed early???????????
Great looking cast Dave
Thanks John. Unlikely to be cast altogether but you never know! It might be a big budget production!
Looking good Dave, but where’s your hapless or independent heroine?
Cheers Roger.
Why one when you can have Jane Carter, Dianna Palmer, Lois Lane, Selina Kyle, Marion Ravenwood, Ursula Stanhope, Emma Peel etc. etc. They will have their 10 minutes of fame!
They look great- straight out of saturday afternoon films….
Cheers,
Pete.
Thanks Pete. Love it when a plan comes together!
Hacing gone from last (so far) to first, that’s a great collection of Pulp minis. I always liked the idea ot 7TV as a game/genre and it’s pretty cool to see someone pulling it off in (near enough to) real time.
Thanks Az.
