When Nightmares Come is a tabletop game about modern monster hunting and occult investigations. Players will form a team of paranormal vigilantes who aim to tackle supernatural horrors and investigate strange disturbances in their city.

It is available for pre- order, but will be on sale by the end of March.

The game utilizes an Action Dice Pool for fast and intense combat, with different enemy levels, varied player classes, quick combat resolution, and clear mission objectives. This sounds very similar to the Ronin mechanism but we will have to wait and see.

Additionally, the game includes a roleplaying element for non-combat challenges and dramatic encounters. This narrative system adds a new dimension to the miniatures experience, particularly in longer campaigns, offering different foes and storylines for extended playability.

I am looking forward to this one as I was extremely disappointed by the new release (August 2023) “Doomed”, also from Osprey, and like the idea of fighting the supernatural. “Buffy” eat your heart out!

Patrick Todoroff’s previous offering, Zona Alpha, is an excellent game so here’s hoping.

PS. Over the next few months Osprey are bringing out The Hill: The brutal fight for hill 107 during the battle of Crete (May 2024); Silver Bayonet: Egypt (May 2024); and Borneo:1945 (October 2024). They all look as if they might be worth a look at as well.
