After cutting out the MMG Bunker shapes I was left with a lot of odd shaped bits and pieces of foam. At first I just binned them, but then i thought I might be able to salvage some for rock and cover that were everywhere in the jungles of New guinea.

For me there is only one rock on the Kokoda track and that is at Isurava.
For all of my secondary school years I attended Kingsbury Technical College named after Bruce Steeel Kingsbury VC. See here for a post with more information.

The rock where Bruce Kingsbury died.
Part of the citation read:
Private Kingsbury, who was one of the few survivors of a platoon which had been overrun … immediately volunteered to join a different platoon which had been ordered to counterattack. He rushed forward, firing the Bren gun from his hip through terrific machine-gun fire, and succeeded in clearing a path through the enemy. Continuing to sweep enemy positions with his fire, and inflicting an extremely high number of casualties upon them, Private Kingsbury was then seen to fall to the ground, shot dead by the bullet from a sniper hiding in the wood.

I will paint some up as rocks and the others as just jungle cover to spread around the table.

Initial “rock” painting

Thanks to Dave again for his 2025 annual “Season of Scenery” challenge as it does get me off my backside to finish (and start) some scenery pieces.
