“Apocalypse Me” and “Zomtober” Challenges – the plans versus the reality

Many thanks to Simon and Dave for their respective challenges that have proved to be a huge incentive for me to get heaps of zombies completed this month. Their blogs can be found on:

My ambitious plans for the “Zomtober” and “Apocalypse Me” challenges were:

  • 6 Toxic Fireman from “The Other” Beta Team expansion box;
  • 5 Survivors from “The Other” Beta Team expansion box;
  • 4 Toxic Zombicide Fatties;
  • 16 Toxic Zombicide Walkers;
  • 8 Toxic Zombicide Runners;
  • 40 Skinner Zombicide Walkers;
  • 16 Skinner Zombicide Runners;
  • 8 Skinner Zombicide Fatties;
  • 18 Seeker Zombicide Walkers;
  • 10 “dead” zombies;
  • 8 Berserker Zombicide Runners;
  • 20 Berserker Zombicide Walkers;
  • Assorted Zombicide Survivors and their Zombivor,

Despite the huge task I had set myself I did get most of these done.

I only achieved one of the survivors and their zombivor, rather than the seventy odd that I had planned.

The handful of survivors I was also planning on finishing are still waiting for their painting to be completed.

On the plus side I did however, get one hundred and eighty (180) assorted zombies, plus She Hulk, the Zombie Hulk, and the TTC combat freeway overpass and on ramps completed.

I am ecstatic as these have been around for at least all of the Covid-19 Apocalypse waiting to be completed.

The downside is that I still have approx 75 figures to complete as well as the 109 Zombicide Second Ed figures to do, the Zombicide Fort Hendrix expansion, the Zombicide Wild West Kickstarter with its hundreds of cool minis due in March 2022, and the Warlords Project Z Ultimate bundle of Survivors, bikers, and Zombies that should arrive before Christmas as well.

So the year of living with the undead will certainly continue (better not let SWMBO see that comment she may get the wrong idea!).

Phew! I am all Zombied out and now looking forward to Normvember and get back to what my gaming colleagues would call “real wargaming” figures. I think I just have a broader understanding of what normal is. After all I do hang out with them!

Guru says “If you try to be normal you will become as insane as all the other buzzards around you!”.

  1. Thanks Pete. I am well and truly “fed up” with painting zombies and inn a few days the rest of the Tallarn Impy guard will start filtering through to the blog.
