A lot of work with little to show for it, plus other stuff!!

Cutting boxes of HaT Australian Light Horse, Heavy Weapons, and Infantry off their sprues, sorting them into rough units and bagging them ready for the next stage, has taken one day and one night of valuable hobby time, with little to show for it except some bags of figures. At least I have converted 20 boxes into more valuable space.

This is despite the work that I started over 12 months ago.

The cavalry completed and the infantry in as pile ready to start.

The trial elements I did 12 months ago.

The end result of the bagging was:

  • 165 Light Mounted Horse figures;
  • 194 Australian Infantry;
  • 12 Dismounted Light Horse Command Elements;
  • 5 Light Horse Mounted Command Elements;
  • 24 Dismounted Light Horse Elements;
  • 8 Light Horse Lewis Guns;
  • 36 Horse Holder Elements;
  • 8 Light Horse mortars;
  • 8 Light Horse Heavy machine guns.

As I paint 20mm on their bases the next stage is to organise the units, base, and undercoat them for the long haul of painting so many figures.

I also have allied British Yeomanry and Indian cavalry, and Bashkirs (camel mounted) to put together after this lot!! The British WW1 artillery will be converted into the 3-pdr horse artillery that supported the Australian Light Horse.

The Indiann Bengal Lancers will need a little conversion but mainly a WW1 paint.

The Indian Bashkirs remind me of the “good old days” as I had to do a head swap with Indian infantry!

These also arrived today from Sally 4th.

These will finish of the Gotham City Port, providing the crew for my cargo ship and the baddies who will man the motor launch yet to arrive! Why the girl guides? Just Coz!!

And these from Modiphious:

Some toxic ghouls for Zona Alpha games.

  1. Looking good and the prep will be worth the effort. I’m doing the same on a smaller scale with more 15mm tanks and every time I can bin another box brings a smile to my face. Keep it up! 👍
