20mm ww2 North Africa – the Italians

I have had these figures for ages partly completed and have decided to get off my backside and finish them off. Some just need basing whilst others had just been undercoated. I decided to start with the Italians as they were further along than the Allies and the DAK.

Above is the first completed Italian Platoon designed for “Chain of Com,mand” rules.

The Platoon “Senior Officer”.

The Platoon Sergeant, or “Superior Junior Leader”

The first sections NCO (junior leader)

The first squad consistes of a ten man section, and two 4 man LMG sections.

LMG team 1

LMG Team 2

Infantry team 1

The second squad in the platoon is identical.

Superior Junior officer or sergeant

Platoon Junior Officer or NCO

LMG team 3

LMG team 4

Infantry team 2

Tomorrow I hope to finish the First Platoon’s support element choices.

Marvel Crisis Protocol – Crossbones Merciless Mercenary

Brock Rumlow has been on the wrong path in life from an early age. He started out leading a gang on the streets of New York and has risen to work with some of the Earth’s most nefarious individuals in schemes ranging from world domination to world destruction. One of the most prominent supervillains to employ Crossbones throughout his life has been the Red Skull, who has used Crossbones in countless plots.

Crossbones didn’t gain his powers through the Super-Soldier Serum like Steve Rogers, but Crossbones is almost a dark reflection of Captain America. Sharing similar attributes in terms of being at the peak of human potential, he is the epitome of the darker human emotions, the balance to Captain America’s representation of the best of humanity.

Crossbones, Merciless Merc may be able to mix it up with the world’s superheroes, but that doesn’t mean he’s on their level in everything. This 3-threat character is going to appear deceptively simple, but there is beauty in simplicity. When you just want someone that can get up in the enemy’s face, take a punch and then hit right back, he’s going to be your guy.

Crossbones, Merciless Merc is a master hand to hand combatant, often noted as one of Captain America’s most deadly foes. He has a strong 4 Physical Defense and 6 Stamina on his healthy side. He may only have 2 Defense against either Energy or Mystic attacks, but you’ll soon see why you may want him to take a few scratches. He does drop down to 5 Stamina on his Injured side, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be out of the fight.

When looking at his Short movement speed, you may consider him to be a slow character. He makes up for a lower base movement with two separate movement related superpowers though! First, this merciless merc has access to the Active superpower Hit and Run. For two power (and an action), he will immediately perform an attack action followed by a move action. He can only do this once per turn, but the action compression this rule provides means that he will often be effectively performing three actions during his activation.

The information was obtained from Atomic Mass Games

This is the last of my Hydra faction. I will provide an overview tomorrow.

Marvel Crisis Protocol – Winter Soldier Operative

This is a great miniature and an excellent game piece to boot. I have deliberately painted him without the Russian Star on his left shoulder. Some excellent information on the Winter Soldier can be found on Frontline Gaming and is included below.

James “Bucky” Barnes is widely recognized as Captain America’s steadfast sidekick. The two stood shoulder to shoulder, fighting evil on global fronts. But their partnership was thought to end tragically on a doomed mission. While Captain America emerged relatively unscathed, Barnes wasn’t so fortunate. He was “saved” by the Russians.

Following severe injuries, the Russians did more than just nurse Barnes back to health. They exploited his vulnerable state, brainwashing him into becoming an unfeeling assassin. With his combat memories intact and equipped with a new robotic arm, he was a significant asset in their dark endeavours. However, there were signs of resistance, hints that he was battling his programming. It was during a mission in the US that his former ally, Captain America, intervened, reawakening his suppressed memories. Nowadays, the Winter Soldier, Operative, is back on the side of justice, seeking redemption for past deeds.

Two more Hydra miniatures to go!

Marvel Crisis Protocol – Taskmaster

Taskmaster serves as the arch-enemy of Ant-Man (Scott Lang) and a frequent opponent of Captain America, Black Widow, Spider-Man, and Deadpool, the latter of whom is the only person whose fighting manoeuvrers Taskmaster cannot replicate, due to his unpredictability.

When Anthony Masters injected himself with an experimental serum designed to unlock the brain’s procedural memory potential, he gained the ability to instantly replicate the physical movements of anyone he saw.

Using these photographic reflexes, Masters took on the name Taskmaster and became a mercenary—selling his skills to the highest bidder. Thanks to his mnemonic memory, Taskmaster is able to memorize, utilize, and predict the attacks of any opponent, turning their own physical abilities against them.

Nearing the end of my Hydra Faction collection.

Red Skull, Master of the World

The three “Red Skulls” from left to right the Core Box “Red Skull”, Master of Hydra Red Skull and the latest version Master of the World.

Core Red SkullA cheaper option if you want to play the High Council mini game to summon a free 4 Threat. In general though Hydra Skull is probably the better Skull for Hydra

The “Master of Hydra Red Skull has a big 5 Threat. His defences look quite low but with his Leviathan Armour makes up for that. A more excitingly posed model than others and for no reason other than that he would be my choice.

The “Master of the World Red Skull” is the newest incarnation of Herrn Schmidt but in looks and stats is just like the Core Box version.

Red Skull, Master of Hydra

Johann Schmidt, also known as the Red Skull, is a conniving villain whose evil deeds span over generations. During the Second World War he sought any path to power he could find, with no regard to the evil it would require of him. He performed covert operations in the United States and led military campaigns in Europe, making him the archenemy of Captain America. Schmidt and Captain America’s final confrontation in the war left both men in suspended animation, and their rivalry continues into the modern age.

The villainous organization HYDRA has roots stretching back for many centuries, but most know of its modern incarnation under Baron Strucker and the Red Skull during the Second World War. From there it has become a globe-spanning terrorist organization bent on world domination. HYDRA cannot ever truly be destroyed, for “If one head is cut off, two more shall take its place.” (MCP Website)

Johann Shmidt was a Nazi general officer and confidant of Adolf Hitler. He has been closely affiliated with HYDRA and is an enemy of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers, and the interests of the United States and the free world in general.

There are three Red Skull miniatures each with slightly different skills and power. This version is not only the best looking model, but also the most game effective.

Marvel Crisis Protocol – Spider Woman

After an accident with uranium afflicted her with severe poisoning, a young Jessica Drew was placed in a genetic accelerator by her scientist parents to reverse the damage.

When Drew awoke decades later, she found herself cured of the poisoning—but barely aged, spider enhanced, and terribly alone. Jessica struck out on her own, attempting to find purpose.

First, she joined the New Men, then HYDRA; then at last discovered heroism with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.

Her espionage training and spider-venom strikes make her a fighter to be reckoned with, no matter whose side she’s on.

Been experimenting with a new light source loaned to me on trial by Wane to see how it worked.

It is better than the standard Ikea quality bed lamp but I need more practice before I make in decisions.

The shot aove does show a more defined spotlight. I was looking for something that would give the effect of being under a street light and this light achieves this.

Marvel Crisis Protocol – Punisher

Frank Castle was an honest ex-Marine just trying to live a normal life with the family he loved. When his family was tragically gunned down, Frank went on a mission of vengeance, first against those directly responsible, then swearing an oath to punish those who hurt the innocent.

An expert in close quarters combat, a trained marksman, and an explosives expert, Frank now stalks the mean streets delivering his own brand of personal justice as the Punisher.

You can also see a hydrant scatter piece which I also painted today,

It is a bit oversize but hey this is a world of super heroes…………………..and hydrants!

Francis David “Frank” Castle is a former United States Marine-turned-violent vigilante. While serving in Afghanistan alongside with Billy Russo, where the duo became close friends, Castle and Russo joined the black-ops team, Cerberus Squad under the command of CIA Officer William Rawlins aimed at capturing, interrogating, and executing high-value targets.

Fearing he was slowly losing his honour, Castle returned to his family, only to lose them all during a brutal shooting. Castle became the Punisher, as he aimed to clean up New York City of all crime by any means necessary.

While seeking to avenge his own family’s deaths, Castle also came in conflict with Daredevil. Castle was soon arrested and, despite the efforts of Nelson and Murdock, was sentenced to life in prison.

However, Castle was freed with the help of Wilson Fisk and discovered the Blacksmith was in fact the one who had been responsible for his family’s murder, or at least one of them.

More MCP tomorrow.
