Missing our normal gaming night “fix” we decided to run a webcam “zoom” game where I was the umpire and the two players could only see what their miniatures could see from their webcam eye.
Gaming without having to move from your own lounge!!!
We kept they game size to a minimum while we tried things out, with Ian having Detectives Gordon and Bullock and Dave using Bane and a thug.
I moved the figures based on the players instructions and players could roll their own dice (I diced for Ian which is probably why he won).
Detective Gordon moves up an alley passed a parked car.
Bane moves around the corner of a building
Bane’s thug moves passed a garbage truck.
Gordon leans on a car bonnet to shoot at the thug but misses.
Bullock takes out the thug in close combat with one hand while still eating his donut in the other
Ian uses Bullock as a human shield to protect Gordon only to find that Bullock takes Bane out by capturing him.
The game was interesting and during the debrief the guys said how they enjoyed having a more realistic line of sight. Without the helicopter view they had to guess where their opponent was moving, with Ian at one stage uttering “Oh ship” as Bane suddenly appeared in Gordon’s view after he moved around a corner.
Dave compared it with a “first person shooter” which is not a bad thing!!!
Worth doing again as we master the web cam technology and get used to acting/reacting based only on what the figure can see.
