Turn 1 began with the Normans having the initiative. A Norman horseman road up to take the apothecary’s stash but was promptly shot down by a Bondi archer.

Note suitable dark Age specific objectives are still on the painting table.

Turn one ended with the Viking ahead 3 points (Norman Cavalry) to zero.

Turn 2  saw the Vikings scoring no additional points and the Normans 3pts for taking out a Bondi spearmen and 2 points for holding an objective. Leaving the totals 5pts to 3pts in favour of the Normans.

Turn three saw the Viking war machine in fill swing.

The turn ended with both sides in control of 2 objectives but the loss of the Viking hero and Huscarl meant the Norms surged ahead 29pts to 25pts.

In the final turn the Vikings were able to claw back 2 points by controlling 2 objectives to 1 but it was not quite enough.

A lone Viking archer holds the Apothecary’s stash.

The Normans taking out victory 31 points to 29.

With the last game being decided by just one point in favour of the Vikings Dave K and I are happy with the play balance we seemed to have achieved.

As indicated a few blogs ago Heroclix figures are a great cheap source of Pulp Fiction and hero type figures. The quality and size varies so you need to be careful to check before you purchase. I have been caught a few times but given they are generally about US$0.49 each from “Troll and Toad” this doesn’t hurt that much.  Compared with “official” figures which can be anywhere from $10.00 to $50.00 a figure the Heroclix versions are extremely good value and also offer a much broader range of figures not available elsewhere. The real advantage is that they come painted and while they look a bit Old school” they suit the genres very well.

When the kids were growing up in the eighties our youngest was into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a big way so most birthdays I just had to buy the action figures for him (honestly), which we still have in the attic to this day.

When looking for some hard to get Batman figures I came across these:

All I have done to complete them is take them off their Heroclix base and re-base and flock them. In most cases they have come up more than adequate.

It will take a few weeks for PIGS to get our act together with the “Oinker games” page of this site, but when we do we will be posting our rules and army lists for you all to download free of charge.

I will notify you all in a blog when we have completed this task.
