The Green Berets versus the Green guys with berets (well some of them anyway).

We wanted to see how a small elite force would go against a much larger green force using Fubar rules.

The elite operatves consisted of just five soldiers with a variety of small arms weapons from Spectre miniatures.

Their opposition consisted of a full Tier 2 insurgent platoon  with heavy machine gun support from irregular miniatures.

The insurgents were able to set up anywhere on the table but not inside a building.

The elite operatives could all be operated as independent single soldier units and could enter from any table edge.

Initiative was always with the elite operatives.

The conflict opened with the operatives opening fire at short range on a squad of insurgents that were promptly suppressed.

On the other side of the compound the remaining operatives opened fire on an RPG squad neutralizing 2 and suppressing the insurgent with the RPG.

The operatives were quickly outflanked and fired on by the HMG on the roof of a nearby building. A failure to suppress these insurgents was likely to be catastrophic.

On the other side of the compound things were also looking dangerous!!!

A quick fire fight and the danger on one side of the compound was eliminated.

20180411_204047

With both insurgent squads suppressed and one insurgent eliminated the danger had temporarily passed.

20180411_204415

Alas only temporarily as the insurgents charged and overwhelmed the operatives.

20180411_204714

Meanwhile having disposed of the RPG and the HMG the other operatives commenced the retrieval operation of their comrades.

With all of their leaders now neutralized the insurgents charged and disposed of one of the operatives.

20180411_205148

With another operative out of the way things were looking grim.

Finally with some expert shooting the final insurgent RPG and fire squads were neutralized allowing the final operative to organize the repatriation of her wounded comrades.

Out numbered 29 to 5 the quality difference really showed in the ability to activate and to hit targets. The operatives were only vulnerable when out-numbered in close combat where their superior skill and morale were unable to be used.
