Follow on from this mornings post – Arcanacon XXX 40k Special Figure – quite fitting for Friday the 13th!

After reading this post today the Front Man Mark Morrison sent me a link to the video of the part of the award ceremony where we gave out the Fezs to everyone. I thought I would share it.

The man himself

It was great to relive the event and see so many familiar faces, although a lit bit older and no more wiser – they are 4ok players after all. It was sad to see Greg bounding around with enthusiasm (shorts and short sleeved check shirt) who passed away this year,

As a result of Mark’s influence you can see how great the vibe was and why anyone who has ever attended has never forgotten them!

Arcanacon XXX 40k Special Figure – quite fitting for Friday the 13th!

I had the pleasure of working alongside a righteous band of “Muvva Fu**ers” for over twenty five years playing in and running the Arcanacon 40k tournament in Melbourne.

On 29 January 2012 thanks to a huge community of 40k players we were honoured to run Arcanacon XXX. For this special occasion we commissioned Arcanacon legend Craig Clark aka “Mouse Muffins” to sculpt an heroic style 75mm miniature for all of our trophies and awards and a 40k sized miniature to give out to all participants.

I was humbled to receive one for being elected into the “Hall of Fame” by my colleagues and peers.

Anyway, enough of that, here is a painted version of the heroic scale model, only 15 years too late!

Craig certainly did an excellent job on the sculpting and it was a joy to paint.

I will paint the standard size figure when I find it. I know it is somewhere in “da cave”.

Looks a bit like MM from the rear doesn’t it?

For those of you who are unaware “Da Fez” was our particular signature clothing item.

In practice during a very busy con it allowed us to stand out from the crowd so rules questions and general inquiries like “where’s the John” could be attended to quickly!

As a parting gift during the closing ceremony of our last tournament everyone was given one! I still have my original, even if a little battered and encrusted with cat hair. Just like me really!

Not sure what I will use him for, but I will find something.

The characteristic one fingered salute was quite apt!
