“Apocalypse Me” Zombies (8) -Skinner crawlers

Crawlers can appear each time Skinners are eliminated. After removing Skinner Zombies, whatever the type (Walker, Fatty, or Runner), you can add a Crawler for each “1” rolled on the attack roll.

Crawler zombies are skinny zombies who run around on all four limbs. Based on their appearance, Crawler zombies seem to be mutated much more than regular zombies. They have a slimy, purple pink shade of skin and appear to be wearing only torn garments.

Crawler zombies appear in the Zombicide game and also in “Call of Duty” where Crawler zombies can be quite subversive and hard to see as they stay close to the floor.

In “Call of Duty” when they are killed, they will flip onto their backs, curl up, and explode, dealing damage to players in the radius, as well as emitting a cloud of green toxic gas that disorients the player and blurs their vision. Maybe something to include!

Tallarn 31st Rough Riders

I just needed a break from painting zombies and have decided to get these finished.

The Tallarn Desert Raiders is the name of the Militarum Regimentum of the Astra Militarum raised from the Desert World of Tallarn whose soldiers are highly skilled at desert and mobile armoured warfare. The Desert Raiders are mobile guerrilla fighters, evasive and opportunistic.

They are especially known for their lightning-quick Sentinel and hard-hitting tank squadrons and are masters of hit-and-run mobile warfare. They love to strike a killing blow at the heart of an enemy formation before returning to their own lines, prepared to pounce once more.Fandom

“Tallarn 31st Rough Riders – The 31st Tallarn Rough Riders is one of three Tallarn regiments, along with the 11th Desert Raiders and the Tallarn 220th Armoured, sent to reinforce the Spinward Front of the Calixis Sector.

Due to the vagaries of the Warp, this regiment only recently arrived at that front after having been considered lost (code for just been painted after years in a box).” Fandom

More Tallarn will appear following the “Zomtober” and “Apocalypse Me” challenges!

Apocalypse Me – ME!

One of the tasks that Dave Stone set us for this challenge was to model a figure that represented ourselves. While I can do the minor conversion or two, I am not up to a full blown conversions that people like IRO can do before breakfast.

Knowing my limitations I decided to hunt through my models to see if I had one that reflected me.

Before I disclose him I want to let you know that I take myself rather seriously as this post pretending to be a chocolate zombie from Easter 2020 shows:

“Pull my finger!”

Little is known about Uncle Honk, as he likes to call himself. Most people think that he used to work in a circus. Some mutter that, more likely, he was a patient in a psychiatric hospital. What everyone knows for sure, however, is Uncle Honk is a brute with a taste for the circus world and zombicide. If he likes you, you can rely on him and all his formidable might. He’ll expect the same in return, of course. Uncle Honk likes to taunt zombies every once in a while, to get in a “funny” during a fight. With his blood-chilling laugh, Uncle Honk is both your best friend and your worst nightmare.” (Box Cover)

Some would say that this describes me to a tee!

Just to set the record straight – I have never worked in a circus the rest………..?

Uncle Honk is the creation of one of Zombicide’s Special guests, Kevin Walker.

“Kevin Walker went freelance in 1987 and spent years illustrating for British comic 2000 AD and Games Workshop. There followed years of comics, both writing and illustrating, with a wide variety of media, before becoming a father and realizing it was time to get some work done. Illustrations for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game, several computer game projects and comic work followed, working for 2000AD, DC Comics, Dark Horse and Marvel. Working on Thunderbolts actually attracted some attention. He’s now the regular penciller and inker on Avengers Arena for Marvel Comics.

In recent years he has worked on cover art for titles such as Young Bond, Artemis Fowl, Changeling and Vampirates. He is currently working mostly for Marvel Comics from his home in Yorkshire, England.” (Box Cover)

The Special guest Zombicide figures come with a survivor and a zombivor (a sort of semi-intelligent zombie) version.

Some would say this looks more like our mate Steve N than myself.

Me the morning after:

I am not happy how these came out and they might get a re-paint in the near future.

Off topic spoiler alert – “I’m a tiger”

I knew theoretically that patting, hugging, or otherwise touching a loving animal can rapidly calm and soothe you when you’re stressed or anxious but had never experienced it. I had a very frenetic week full of hassle and “ship”!

My little “tiger” Lulu (you will have to be a geriatric like myself to understand that reference) must have sensed this and jumped on me when I was stretched out trying to relax in front of the TV.

Snuggling in and purring she totally gelled me out!

Now I have owned cats long enough to know that the selfish bitch was probably cold and just wanted my body heat……..but hey it worked. Guru is now gelled out!

“A lot of men have come my way, thinking I’m easy prey” – but beware of a gelled out Guru!

“Apocalypse Me” Zombies (6) -Skinner Walkers

The most common and numerous type of Zombie. Don’t underestimate them. When you begin to wonder if there are too many of them, it’s already too late.

With these Zombicide “Skinner” zombies I wanted to create a different feel and decided to use a pink/lilac/purple/white palette throughout. This differentiates them, but also just provided some variety for my painting!

Skinner zombies are different from other Zombicide zombies in that crawlers can appear each time Skinners are eliminated. After removing Skinner Zombies, whatever the type (Walker, Fatty, or Runner), you add a Crawler for each “1” rolled on the attack roll.

20 more Walker zombies now finished.

“Apocalypse Me” Zombies (4) -Toxic Abomination

Malls were favored shelters when the first zombies appeared: lots of space and stuff to live on while waiting for rescue. It was a bad idea. When the rescue squads came, malls became traps. Malls are easy to spot and hard to defend, so the whole area turned into a battlefield. Some building collapsed, and barricades went up everywhere. Some blocks even look they got hit by an air strike.

The Toxic Abomination has a special Zombicide game effect: all standard Zombies standing in its Zone can become Toxic Zombies.

This Zombicide miniature will serve as a guide for my conversion of the “Hulk” into a zombie version. I think the horns and the pustules will look great on the Hulk.

1 More Zombicide Toxic Abomination Zombie to add to the shelf.
